7-inch Apple iPad Mini rumored to launch in Q3 or Q4

Californian tech-honcho Apple is likely to roll out its 7-inch Apple iPad Mini in the  second half of 2012, so that users could lay hands over it by Christmas. It has been recently claimed by Taiwan news outlet Liberty Times.

According to report, the company is all set to launch this mini iPad at the end of 3rd quarter. It has been also targeting to sale around 6 million units, which was already predicted by a Chinese online portal Netease in April 2012.

LG and Au Optronics are engaged in developing the  iPad Mini LCD panel after passing the Apple’s certification tests so that these could be shipped on time. As per a Japanese blog site Macotakara, TPK Holding is planning to churn out 4 million backlight modules, while Chimei Innolux would be providing extra 2 million modules.

In addition to this, Nissha Printing is also making touch film sensors for Apple iPad Mini, which would pack 8GB storage and is likely to set back between $249 and $299.

Apple iPad has got a slight competition from Amazon’s 7-inch Kindle Fire in the fourth quarter of last year. After that, Apple has striven to regain its lost share. As per his, currently Apple is holding nearly 61% share of the tablet market all around the world in 2012.
.
7-inch Apple iPad Mini is expected to take on the rivalry with Kindle Fire and other smaller Android tablets. But, Apple has been in the habit of following its own trends rather than of others. Considering this point, it seems that Apple would be releasing some other kinds of iPad mini more to lure away the Android tablets fans.

Amazing! Apple’s Siri terms Nokia Lumia 900 as ‘best smartphone ever’

It’s really a mid-boggling news for the Apple fans and other geeks worldwide, as Apple’s much-hyped voice activated software Siri is touting Nokia Lumia 900, the phone of its rival as ‘best smartphone ever’.

Siri, the key attraction of 2011 release Apple iPhone 4S, has already been in the spotlight due to its interesting and astonishing replies. But, not it is making headlines with its an entirely unexpected answer. Whenever, you put up the question “What is the best smartphone ever” in front of Siri, instead of singing its own praise songs, it instantly takes the name of Nokia Lumia 900, leaving one and all  startled at once.

The question propping up in the mind of all is why Siri is making this blunder to not call the name of Apple iPhone 4S. In fact, Siri hands over any query to Wolfram Alpha search engine, which garners the  data from Best Buy, where Nokia Lumia 900 has a total of five count in the reviews of smartphones.

Moreover, whenever you ask for a best cellphone, it calls The LG Tracfone, which has got 5 out of 5 rating on WolframAlpha in a review.

But, it’s not the first time, Siri has gained limelight. Siri has been also facing flak, as it has limited features to decipher regional accents and reports of coarse language.

We hope that WolframAlpha would have a rethink to make up the mind whether BestBuy’s customer reviews section is in fact the right place to get replies.

Whether you are impressed with the Apple’s Siri and its voice commands? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!

RIM Gives Hardware of Proposed Blackberry 10 Alpha to Developers for Testing!

The wait it seems is finally over for the ultimate touch sensitive display toting smartphone from RIM (Research in Motion).  We are talking about the Blackberry 10 Alpha that has been sent for pre-production testing of hardware to developers by RIM (Research in Development), the Canada-based maker of the famed Blackberry smartphone devices.

Since it is only a pre-production pro type of the actual device, it is most certainly a well thought out move by RIM to do so . As whatever is being tested is not the actual device and at the same time very much closer to what the real advanced edition of the operating system version 10 run smartphone will be.

It is now well known in the mobile phone industry circles that RIM has been testing vigorously its much touted Blackberry 10 version running smartphone and does not want to take any chances whatsoever.

But the latest move to offer the Blackberry 10 Alpha handset hardware for testing to developers does clearly indicate that this is likely to be smartphone handset that RIM is propping as its number one touchscreen sporting device.

And there is also speculation that the Alpha 10 is also the Blackberry Colt that some months back RIM was believed to be working on.

Irrespective of whether this is true or not,  it is interesting to note the features of the Blackberry Alpha 10. Well, suffice it to say that the Blackberry 10 Alpha is a smaller version of the Blackberry Playbook and does hold the technical prowess to not only hold on its own but also surprise a few rivals.
